Have you tried Instagram Reels yet? These little up to 15 second videos have taken social media by storm in the last few weeks – and it’s easy to see why. With inbuilt editing tools, AR filters, the ability to upload pre recorded clips, and add music (well, if you’re not a business account!); Reels have got masses of scope for you, whether you want to use them for fun or for your brand or business.
How to use Instagram Reels
In this podcast, I give a whistle-stop tour of Reels to help you feel more confident when it comes to getting started. At time of publishing this episode of the podcast, Reels are being prioritised on Instagram, which means that there’s never been a better time to give it a go!
Here are some fast facts about Reels that might be of interest to you:
- They are up to 15 seconds long
- They can be made up of lots of tiny clips, or one 15 second video
- Reels are be created from pre recorded and pre edited video, or you can record straight into the app
- You can use the inbuilt tools inside Reels to help make your clip more engaging – you can speed up and slow down what you say, add filters, and if you don’t have a business account, you can add music too.
- Reels have their own tab on Instagram to make them easy to find.
- As per IGTV, you can share to your grid (although you share the whole Reel and not just a preview), and from the grid or the tab you can also share to Stories too.
If you want to see the Reel you hear on this podcast, or to check how I’m using them for quick tips and ideas, hop over to Instagram (I’m here) and have a look. My Reels are usually shared to my grid too, or you’ll find them all in the specific Reels tab.
