Today (well, if you read this on March 8th!) is International Women’s Day. I love the idea of a day to celebrate the incredible women in all of our lives… the thing I’m not sold on is that some take this to mean ‘because men are rubbish’. That’s not something I agree with at all. I know of many amazing women, and many amazing men too. And actually, a lot of the amazing women I know have equally amazing men in their lives, helping to support them and what they do. And visa versa too. Am I making any sense?!
So, this post is about the amazing woman I get to work with (and who said they were happy I share their pics!). It’s not a jab at men at all. But today is all about the girl bosses… so that’s what this post is all about.
Below you’ll find some of the ladies I get to spend time with – if you click on their name you’ll be whisked off to their website… enjoy!
International Women’s Day 2019
Hayley Files – the lady behind Equissentials Dressage. I have the privilege of having Hayley in my Mastermind group and this lady’s attitude is something else. Not only does she work incredibly hard but she’s also happy to try new things and really develop them. That’s why she’s achieving such great results.
Emma Warren – Queen Bee of Hiho Silver and someone I am lucky to spend a lot of time with! Emma’s brain is quite something – not only can she do sums quicker than I can get my fingers out to start counting, but she has this very strange ability to get to the root of an issue at lightning speed. She’s incredibly supportive, creative, and an absolute star to work with. There’s more about Emma here.
Becci Harrold – the brains behind Super X Country. This lady works a full time job and designs, tests, creates and everything else around her amazing brand. Her designs are incredible and her eye for detail is second to none. Her relationship with her customers is also superb – creating bespoke XC colours to suit their needs with a crazy fast turnaround time. Her range has expanded lots too. There’s more about about Becci here.
Melanie Clarihew – co founder of luxury British accessories brand Mackenzie & George. I work closely with Melanie and find her creativeness (is that even a word!) amazing. Not only that, but the attention to detail that goes into every design, the uncompromising stance of quality and materials, the level of customer service… and we’re usually laughing about something completely crazy too. Love her. And you can find out more about her here.
Sophie Callahan – if you’ve followed me for any time at all, you’ll know about Sophie. There aren’t many people I would willingly let take my picture… but she’s one! Sophie is an incredibly talented equine photographer but has also grown as an influencer, vlogger, blogger and personal brand. The way she views life and what it throws at her is a real example – she’s one of life’s good people. You can find out more about Sophie here.
Zoe Kiff – the lady behind Honest Riders (and recent podcast guest too!). I’ve loved Zoe’s brand since it launched but was so amazed and inspired by the development of the brand and every aspect of it. From the Fair Wear factories used to the commitment to reduce the use of plastics and SO much more, Zoe’s vision is inspiring without being preachy. Have a listen to the podcast – it’s a real eye opener.
Charlotte Miller – aka The Forelock Journal. I first met Charlotte at Hiho Silver’s event last year and was struck by what a genuinely lovely person she was! Since then she’s gone on to win Equestrian Blogger of the year and work so, so hard to grow a following that she’s so dedicated to supporting. She’s also a Hiho Silver ambassador and I love the way she manages to expertly handle the curve balls I throw in her direction. You can listen to a podcast with Charlotte here.
Ruth Chappell – the lady behind Dressage Anywhere. I work with Ruth but she’s also a great friend and tends to be my roomie at Hiho events too! Ruth’s knowledge of tech is incredible and she’s an organisational legend. She’s funny, kind and very very modest – she has no idea just how brilliant she is – but trust me, she’s incredible. You can find out more about her here.
Rachel Bragg – aka Sweet Images. Rachel is another one of those who has absolutely no idea how incredibly talented she is. She works with a number of my clients as a photographer and her work is always superb (and, let’s be honest, makes my life a lot easier!). She’s funny, insightful, and incredibly generous with her attitude to sharing knowledge. As you’ll here in this podcast…
Sarah Johnstone – aka Apt Cavalier. Sarah’s business has grown at the most incredible pace, despite her also having another job and event horses! Her determination to succeed as well as her design prowess and go-getter attitude are so inspiring. I can’t wait to see how her brand continues to grow. You can find out more about Sarah here.
Jane Pike – Jane is one of life’s really nice people – and uses her amazing mindset and psychology skills to help support riders in their confidence and performance. She is the lady behind Confident Rider and JoyRide but is also so kind and absolutely hilarious. She’s also in New Zealand and was a key part of my first TEDx talk (thanks for that!)! Find out more about Jane here.
Anna Rainbow – Anna is an equestrian photographer, a wedding photographer… and has her own PR business too! Anna is a really, really hard worker and puts so much time and effort into up-skilling and collaborations, it’s incredible. Continual learning and working with others are two areas I’m really passionate about too, so I really love these traits!
Victoria Bodey – the lady behind the most beautiful tack shop I’ve ever seen – Equiboodle. It’s worth going to Cirencester just to see it! Not only has Victoria got her business so, so well, the level of customer service she shows her customers is amazing. On top of this, she’s a really lovely person to spend time with and despite being seriously astute from a business point of view, has a real quest for improvement and knowledge.
Faye Harlequin – part of the team behind Horseshoe Hearts & Gifts. Faye is such a good egg and I can’t even vocalise how proud I am of her and how far she’s come over the last few months. I first met Faye in person at Hiho’s event at The Fish and loved her instantly. The products she and her partner make are exceptional, but the care and attention that goes into each aspect of the business is amazing. Honestly. She’s incredible.
Janine Kell – the lady behind The Golden Paste Company. Janine has been on such a huge journey with her business – from starting at home to having own premises and becoming part of a larger company. Her dedication to the product and her customers is incredible, as is her work ethic. She also has a lovely team of ladies that work with her who are absolute sweethearts. They’re a seriously lovely bunch.
Annie Belton-Green – Annie is part of team Albion and I have the privilege of working with her on Albion’s social media. Annie grew up with Albion (literally!) and is an absolute fountain of knowledge about the brand. More than that though, she’s the brand’s guardian and has worked tirelessly on its branding and positioning. She has a real eye for detail, which you can see in everything Albion do. She’s incredible and so inspiring and dedicated.
Lindsay Robertson – I’ve been working with Lindsay for quite a while now, but met her in person for the first time at Hiho & Co’s event. She’s a complete diamond. Hilarious and I don’t think I stopped laughing when we were chatting, but also crazy talented… and I mean CRAZY talented. She’s working on a project called Homelands at the moment which is mindblowing, and her images are exceptional.
Donna Case – aka The Horse Feed Guru. I love Donna. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Donna for a little while and she’s such a sweetie. She’s so knowledgeable, so dedicated, and so generous with her time and advice. She’s also far too modest… she’s incredible.
Charlotte Martin – aka Fruit Bat Textiles. I’ve only just started working with Charlotte through the Mastermind group, but I’ve been a huge admirer of her skills and products for a long time… and I love following her on Instagram. Charlotte has a seriously impressive skillset, and her range of textiles is simply beautiful.
Martha Lily Thompson – like Charlotte, I’ve only just started to get to know this lady, but I’ve already been in awe of her gorgeous images and her thirst for knowledge and desire to do things the right way. It makes my heart sing a little. And I can’t wait to see her and her business continue to grow and develop.
Amanda Marshall – the lady behind 3 Donkeys. I got to meeting Amanda at Hiho & Co and she’s someone I’ve just started to get to know better through Mastermind. Amanda makes a range of ladies overalls and I’ve seen these in action on the always lovely Lexi Wrench. I’m looking forward to seeing Amanda and 3 donkeys continue to grow.
Emma Batcheler – the lady behind Hooves & Love. I love the idea of the Hooves & Love business, but I’m also a big Emma fan. I met her at Your Horse Live and thought her stand design and attention to detail was incredible. She was also incredibly welcoming and lovely to talk to. I’ve been loving her videos too. It’s great watching her collection continue to expand too.
Kathryn Bell – aka Team Equestrian. Kathryn offers equestrians a great way to get clothing printed or embroidered. The idea behind the business is a great one as it allows teams to get personalised clothing using a different platform. I’m really looking forward to getting to know Kathryn better through Mastermind too.
Sharon Howe – aka Mulberry Tree Lifestyle. I met Sharon for the first time at Hiho & Co and was delighted when she joined Mastermind too. Sharon’s at a really exciting stage in her business and blog and I loved her attitude and excitement around her fab idea. I’m excited to watch this grow and develop over time too!
