Should you start a podcast?

According to a few different sources, there are over two million podcasts in existence at the moment. But should you start one? On this episode, I share what rocks and sucks, what’s a yay and a nay, about creating and producing a podcast.

Should you start a podcast?

As with any form of content creation, there’s a time commitment and potentially a financial commitment too, and as with so many things, it’s unlikely to be an overnight success. BUT with persistence, dedication, and passion, having your own podcast can reap huge rewards. And not just in the ways you’d think!

I really do love the Small & Supercharged Podcast. As we move ever closer to the 200th episode (how did that happen!), I realise it’s given me a lot more than I could have imagined. Yes, it’s clocked up a LOT of listens (thank you to each and every person that’s listened!), but it’s also given me the opportunity to speak to some incredible, inspiring people. I’ve learnt lots from these interactions and, for that, I will always be grateful. It’s also allowed me to help more people. Because, to me, that really is important.

When you record and publish a podcast, you’re reaching people in a different way. If you’re reading this, you’re likely to be on your phone- or maybe your computer- but you are having to focus on this (although, if you’re walking at the same time, well done you!). If you produce video content, the same applies. With a podcast, you can accompany people in a different way. You can hang out with them on walks. You can be with them in the car when they’re on long journeys. You can even join them in the gym (but there’s no need to get sweaty!). It allows you to reach people in a different way and integrate into a different bit of their world. And I think that’s really cool.

So anyway, hopefully this podcast will be useful- it’s a very honest account of how producing this weekly episode works for me… enjoy.
