If you listened to episode 33, Meltdown to Mindset Shift with Olivia Towers, you’ll know all about Olivia, but today we’re going even deeper into the world of Olivia Towers and the #towerstribe. Welcome to the second Olivia Towers podcast – Business, goals, fears and a glimpse of what could have been. Are you excited?
What’s in this episode: Business, goals, fears and a glimpse of what could have been with Olivia Towers…
In this episode of the Small & Supercharged Podcast, I chat with Olivia about more of the mindset and business side of what she does. Mindset plays a huge part in Olivia’s business now, but more than just her business, her life too. Changing her mindset has not only changed her world, but she uses it in her teaching too. In fact, Olivia’s found that most people’s issues in the saddle tend to start from something else going on in their lives. This knowledge then inspired Olivia to spend time with riders out the saddle first.
We chat about Olivia’s fears, and her concerns about looking back in 20 years and feeling sad she didn’t make it as a rider because she spent too much time on social media, or not making it on social media because she was too focused on riding. Being seriously passionate about both has caused Olivia to burn out, and she talks about this here.
Olivia discusses the importance of structure for her, how she’s a proud member of the ‘5 am club’ and what this allows her to do.
And what does the future hold for Olivia Towers?
As for the future – Olivia has big goals. She wants to be at the very top of her game as a dressage rider, but she wants to do it with happy horses. She wants her dressage horses to be happy athletes that want to perform. But more than this, she wants to document and share the journey, get there the right way and not stab people in the back on the way up. She also wants to feel secure enough that if it doesn’t happen, the journey will have been enough. Her goal is to be someone who’s respected at a seriously high level, like Carl Hester.
When it comes to business, Olivia has equally big goals – she wants to inspire people. Not just inside the dressage world. Or even inside the equestrian industry, but on a larger scale too. It’s all focused on helping people.
And then we talk about the personal side of things. Olivia would love to have a family and find the right person. Her love life has been an area she’s really struggled with and she has dated a lot of people as she felt empty without having someone there. One of her big personal goals is to find the right person, but this time she’s coming from a happy place.
And of course, we talk about social media and sponsors
When it comes to social media, Olivia has some incredible insights. She says, in this podcast, why she values authenticity and also the value of sharing the highs and the lows. She talks about the reason she is so open, including the fact that it’s not really right to share the shiny bits and nothing else! Olivia also discusses how she integrates her sponsors with her social media in a way that helps and supports her audience. In addition, Olivia talks about how she approaches sponsors now, and how that’s changed over time.
Olivia shares a frightening glimpse of the direction her life could have taken. And it was a long way from dressage horses, let me tell you! I know when we were chatting for this podcast and Olivia shared this, my jaw actually dropped. I mean, when Olivia says she was a wild child, she wasn’t kidding. It really is frightening to see the route she could have taken, and so incredible and inspiring to see what she’s accomplished. She believes that this is one of the reasons why she has empathy and can relate to so many different people. Because she’s been to some pretty dark places and come out the other side.
Just wow!
Gosh, I LOVE this girl! When I was writing up these notes I felt everything I did when I first recorded it, from shock to admiration and, by the time the podcast ended, hugely inspired too. I’m delighted to be working with Olivia now and I can’t wait to see her achieve her goals. From spending time with Olivia, you can’t help but feel inspired and uplifted around her. And her determination. Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who’s quite so driven as this lady. She’s one to watch. Well, more than that, she’s one to follow and learn from as she goes. I can not wait to see her achieve her riding, business and personal goals. And I have no doubt that she will.
