The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club and burnout to balance with Victoria Knowles-Lacks

If you’ve read Victoria’s book (and if not, you really should!), you’ll know how open and honest she is, and in the podcast you’ll hear all about this. Victoria talks about why and how she started the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club and what it provides to ladies looking to shoot, and how this has grown from the seed of an idea into what she’s created now. We talk about how her work life looked as the business was growing, which involved driving around the country to each shoot, why and how she started the National Ladies Shooting Day, and what that has grown into, and how the business is structured now.

On from the business, we also have a chat about Victoria as a person and the challenges that she’s faced. We talk about her beloved father, Karl, who sadly passed away after a five year battle with cancer. Not only do we talk about the way that her dad’s illness impacted on her, but also the value of community and how the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Clubbers supported her and showed up for her during that period. We also touch on the benefits of social media and how focusing on the good can be hugely valuable and have a very positive impact on you in all sorts of ways. The support of Victoria’s Dad was definitely one.

The Ladies Shooting Club

The Ladies Shooting Club is the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club’s sister brand, but is a membership platform that Victoria created. Originally, the membership was linked to the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club, but then it got split to cater for potentially different audiences. Victoria split the Ladies Shooting Club and the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club so one focuses on membership and community, and the second is just events.

The book – Make It Happen

It might seem like a bit of a leap as Victoria is very well known in shooting circles, but Victoria has recently published a book all about mindset and motivation in addition to how she reorganised her business. She talks about how, when her Dad was poorly, she got a whole lot of perspective on everything and started to use this for her book.

Victoria, as you’d expect, is so open in this podcast. She talks about perspective, lessons she’s learnt, how she shares thing and why, and the amazing reaction she’s had to her book. We also talks about the process of writing the book and how she promoted the writing of the book and the journey she’s been on with the writing. From staring at blank Google documents to deciding the cover.

We also chat about launching the book. We talk about how Victoria felt about getting best seller status on Amazon, how she did it, and how it kept growing and developing as the day went on.

To get your hands on a copy of the Make It Happen Book, you can get it here on Amazon or through Victoria Knowles-Lack’s website here.
